‘Asia’s Strongest’ Kim Eun Joong-ho Breaks Dojo, Becomes Africa’s Strongest Beyond South America

The South Korea U-20 team, led by head coach Kim Eun-joong, will face Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, Argentina on Friday at 2:30 a.m. ET.

South Korea advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 victory over Ecuador in the Round of 16 on June 2. This is South Korea’s sixth U-20 World Cup quarterfinal appearance and first back-to-back. If they knock out Nigeria, it will be their second consecutive quarterfinal and they will try to create mythology once again.

South Korea came into this tournament with low expectations, but they actually did well in the group stage. After knocking off France in the first round of the tournament, the Koreans bounced back with a hard-fought win over Ecuador in the Round of 16, with key players like Lee Seung-won, Bae Jun-ho, and Lee Young-joon standing out. 먹튀검증

South Korea also remained the only Asian powerhouse in the tournament. They are the only team to survive the tournament and advance to the quarterfinals. First, Japan and Iraq were eliminated in the group stage. Uzbekistan, who made it to the round of 16, fell to Israel in a 0-1 loss.

Kim Eun-jung-ho will now face the African powerhouse Nigeria. Nigeria was paired with Brazil and Italy in what was dubbed the tournament’s Group of Death, and went 2-1. They lost to Brazil and won against Italy, balancing out their record.
