Busan defeats Seoul Eland 2-1…3rd straight win + first lead of the season

Reporter Ahn Young-jun = Professional soccer’s K League 2 Busan I-Park beat Seoul Eland to take the lead for the first time since the start of the season.

The Busan club won 2-1 in the 16th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 away match against Seoul Eland at Mokdong Sports Complex on Thursday.

Fresh off three straight wins, Busan improved to 8 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses (29 points) and moved to the top of the standings, knocking FC Anyang, which had drawn with Bucheon FC the day before, off the top spot. This is the first time Busan, who were as low as seventh place at one point, have been in the lead.

Seoul Eland remains in eighth place with six wins, two draws and six losses (20 points).

Busan took the lead in the 37th minute on a diving header by Kim Chan. Busan equalized in the first minute of the second half through Lee Si-heon with a mid-range shot, but Park Jung-in put them back in front in the 28th minute with a powerful left-footed strike.

Seoul Eland then tried to fight back, but Busan defended well to secure a 2-1 victory.

In the match between Gimpo FC and Chungbuk Cheongju at the Gimpo Solter Soccer Stadium, Chungbuk Cheongju had the last laugh. With the three valuable points, Chungbuk Cheongju improved their record to 4 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses (16 points) and set the stage for a mid-table finish.

Gimpo, who were unbeaten in 12 matches with seven wins and five draws, suffered their first back-to-back defeats of the season after losing their previous match. With seven wins, five draws and two losses (26 points), Gimpo dropped to fifth place.
