Choi Won-kwon on “Edgar’s multi-goal performance? It was Edgar as usual”

Daegu FC head coach Choi Won-kwon praised veteran Brazilian striker Edgar for his multi-goal performance, saying it was very much like Edgar.

Choi Won-kwon’s Daegu drew 2-2 against Incheon in the 15th round of the Hana One Q K League 2023 at DGB Daegu Bank Park in Daegu at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Daegu conceded an early goal to Incheon midfielder Shin Shin-ho in the 30th minute of the first half, but seemed to pull off a thrilling comeback thanks to a multi-goal fireworks display from Edgar in the 5th and 11th minutes of the second half. However, they conceded a heartbreaking equalizer in stoppage time to Incheon’s substitute striker Hong Si-hoo and had to settle for a draw.

“We wanted to win and make our fans smile, but it’s a shame we couldn’t defend until the end,” Choi said at the post-match press conference, adding, “The team did a great job in the hot and humid weather. It’s positive that we were able to keep up after conceding the first goal and that we created good chances despite many crises.”

He thanked the Daegu players, including Edgar, who scored multiple goals. “I’m grateful to Edgar for his goals. As usual, it was his usual self. I hope he continues to do that. And thank you to the defenders and midfielders who created the situation.” 스포츠토토

Finally, Choi said that he hopes to make up for the three-goal defeat against FC Seoul in their last meeting. “We have one week to prepare,” Choi said. Today’s lineup is our best strength. If there are no problems, we’ll go with it. We will focus on the game against Seoul. We lost away from home by three goals, so we don’t want to lose like that this time. We will do our best with the players we have.”
